Week #5 2015

1.30.15

The long awaited birthday gift!

Cain only had one thing on his list for Christmas/Birthday and it was this handgun. I saved and saved to be able to surprise him with the money on his birthday. The wait was worth it I think!

1.31.15

Saturday was one of the best days I've had in quite some time. From beginning to end I was just so happy to be where I was and who I was with.

First thing Saturday morning I headed over to see Lana and Emma with my mom. We wanted to take some pictures of Emma in the snow. Well, little did we realize she wanted NOTHING to do with the snow...

She let out a cry as soon as we put her down and wouldn't stop until we picked her up! Sweet, sweet thing. I adore her so much! She still looked pretty darn cute in her snow stuff so we took a couple pictures with mom & daughter :)

Grandma got in on the action too!

Next we headed to a baby shower! It was so very cutely decorated, I would share all of it's cuteness but due to time, I can't! Will have them up later!

My day was made the moment I saw Graci though. Jodi brought her to the baby shower and from there she came over to play at the house for the afternoon. It made nova's day too!

When did she get so big?!

That crazy hair of hers!

The target Cain and Derrek were shooting at! I shot too, I actually had a pretty good shot if I say so myself :) Graci added the "heart" ... it was a nice touch :)

When my day ended I sat back and just smiled at the happy moments I was able to have through out the day. I wish every weekend was spent with family and graci :)

2.1.15

We were waiting for snow Sunday... it did come but not until later on.

We made homemade pizza for super bowl night! My mom's sauce is the BEST. Just the BEST. Mmmm.

We made it home before 9:00pm Sunday night and found my car looking like this!

Seeing how Cain worked early the next morning he shoveled that night. I decided to help him out! We also shoveled our neighbors sidewalk and cleared off her car while we were at it.

2.2.15

The funny thing about shoveling the night before is A) It snowed more in the middle of the night and you couldn't see the cars again! and B) Cain got down staffed so he ended up not going into work!

So while we shovel the sidewalks AGAIN... our other neighbor were trying to get out of our road.... with no luck... Cain to the recuse!

2.3.15

After a long day of babysitting I came home pretty late to find Nova on the couch loving on her new toy. Our very nice neighbor lady brought Nova a special animal toy and a thank you note for helping with clearing off snow. She hasn't left this toy's side since!

2.4.15

More snow fell Wednesday afternoon. I was about ready to leave for Bluffton to babysit when I got the text that there was a change of plans due to the snow. Good thing I'd say.... !

2.5.15

I had the most beautiful little girl in my studio Thursday morning for pictures. I just had to share for my weekly update of photos ... :)

Week #4 2015

1.23.15

Morning hockey game for Cain. I sat in the stands freezing like always.

Thankfully Betsy called me and we were able to talk while Cain played (Side tracked me from being cold!)  I miss my cousin Betsy so much, wish she was around in person to talk with.

1.24.15

Roast night! I love throwing herbs together. I was afraid at one time about adding herbs and spices to things. I was wondered I would mess up the flavor of things. Now it's like second nature to toss around spices to make flavors stand out more!

Note: This roast made 5 meals total!

1.25.15

Sunday was a fun day for me. Lana is now selling Thirty-One products and I got to be her first party! I wasn't sure how it would go with me not having a lot of friends. But my family stepped up and were there for me, which made my day.

I just put my order in and got $250 worth of Thirty-One stuff! I'm pretty happy.

1.26.15

Morning sunshine coming through my kitchen window ...

1.27.15

Early morning cuddles like always :) Nova loves every bit of it ;)

1.28.15

Deciding over the color I will use for my next home project!

1.29.15

Doing a bone broth fast.... easier said then done! But almost done with it and the healing my body gets is so rewarding :)

"Fire Place" project

This bookshelf was left here at our new home by our landlords. They didn't want or need it and so I said I would keep it and try to found a use for it! It wasn't until my sister Lana came over to see our new home though that the idea of using it as a "Fire Place" came up.

Lana went over to this piece and went on about how it looked like a fire place and how cute it would be with candles....

Lana is the crafty one, not me! But I could see what she saw and it got me thinking what I could do with it.

Christmas was the first time that I finally was able to bring to life, as Lana saw it.  I was so excited to show her because if it wasn't for her idea, I'm not sure what I would have done with it!

Christmas fire place...

So, after Christmas time was over I hinted around to some people about painting this "fire place" and I didn't get a lot of great reactions lol

Everyone liked the old wood look, but I REALLY  like the color white and wasn't quite sure if I liked the plain wood.

I was pretty determined about painting it but then when a friend said that she thought it would look better too, I decided I would!

So here is the BEFORE...

And AFTER...

Well? Am I the only one who thinks this looks TONS BETTER? I painted the whole thing with two coats of white paint, once it was dry I took a electric sander and went to town! It took MAYBE 2 minutes tops to finish it the way I wanted.

(SHHH.. don't tell my Dad or Cain that I used the sander... .. they would have freaked out watching me handle that sander!)

So side by side you can see how much "Newer" it looks yet still has the vintage look about it.

I'm excited to see what I can do with this every season this year!

Here I wanted a Valentine's Day theme, might still add to this but for now I'm happy with it :)

Thanks to Lana and Jessica for the awesome ideas!
