She found a "Home"

Oh Graci, what are we to ever do with you? We went shopping this week for our "His and Her Wedding Party" coming this Sunday. We needed the food, some flowers and paint. Graci was with us so it ended up being a lot of fun! While picking out some food and walking back to the cart where my mom and Graci were waiting.... I found Graci in between these boxes! And she said "I've found  home"

Bursting with laughter I pulled my phone out to take a picture! She is just so funny, where does she come up with this stuff?! So after that good laugh I said come on we need to keep moving. She jumped out and on we went.... Within 1 minute she was trying to claim these cereal boxes! I helped her up and said "Let me guess, your new home?" "YUP!" she replied!

And again....

And again... ! That was the last "Home" spot she found haha...

This week I finished my goal of miles to run. Here I am about to take my run while I watch some Dr. Oz ! I normally can't watch TV and run at the same time but it was a interesting subject that day!

As I was saying our His and Her party is this Sunday and I am so looking forward to seeing everyone! Lana, my sister has spent a lot of time thinking up some cute details for the decoration! They are setting it up today actually! I get to be surprised and see it Sunday once it's all finished! I thought a slide show would be perfect for part of the party. We have SO MANY pictures together (Not complaining) and we have the engagement video also!

I think by now everyone has seen the video, but just in case! It's going to be there!

So here I am one late night working on it...

Friday's! Cain's home!!! This Friday I needed to work though so we just had the morning together. Which was spent hanging out with Nova!

I was heading out to babysit and Cain was on his way to see Derrek. We both had Notre Dame sweatshirts on. Which isn't to odd, we both love ND. But I had my hat on and I think Cain got jealous of my get up! So he got his Notre Dame hat...

Isn't he the cutest!

I'm not even sure... it just made me laugh.

My best friend for life.

We are dorks. No biggie!

So I woke up this morning at 3:30am almost in tears! I realized I had forgot to pick up Cain's quilt from the Dry Cleaners yesterday. Lana had asked me to bring it to the party Sunday because we have a "Love story table" that is meant for all the pictures of us, things we have done, and the things we have made for each other. I was so excited to have the quilt there I wanted to get it cleaned before. That would have been great if I had remembered to pick it up!

For some reason I think they are closed Saturday's. That's when the tears came. Once I realized I couldn't do ANYTHING about it until morning I stopped crying but knew I couldn't go back to sleep.

I'm praying that yes, they are opened Saturday's or that I can get ahold of him about seeing if I can still get it tomorrow sometime.

Hoping for the best.

Question now is, what am I going to do the next 4 hours?!

Mango Salsa Salad with Green Smoothie

I thought I would leave this salad out of the post about the food I ate this past week just because it was so good, it needed a special post!

Ready for it?

Mango Salsa Salad with Green Smoothie!

A girl I follow through social media posted a picture of a Mango Salad. So I thought I would try and recreate what she did!

As you can see it's a big hand full of Spinach as the base with an Mango, Tomatoes, Cucumber and onions chopped up!

She had a cashew dressing with it that I couldn't make due to the fact we had no cashews in the house! But with just the salsa it was amazing!

If I can remember right my smoothie had.... Spinach, Apple, Lemon, Cucumber with Water!

I  will make this again soon! I am so in love with Mango's... it might be topping off at number 2 in favorite Fruit. Anyone know what my favorite fruit is??

Oh camera strap. Stay put will ya?!

Be aware. Be smart. Be healthy!

What I ate this week

As I sit here snacking on a orange I thought what better time to write a post of the foods I ate this week! As spring is slowly coming I'm slowly getting back into a smoothie groove and more veggies! Not that I didn't eat enough this winter but meat did see me through this winter and I am now slowly winging off of the meat and back into more veggies and fruit!

I had these few goodies above that sounded oh so wonderful.... here is what I did with them!

One night last week I had just finished a run and was so happy to see my mom cooked one of the sweet potato's from my grandpa's garden! With green beans (one of my favorites!)

Every morning (or at least every morning that I can) I have water with lemon! It is such a great way to wake up your insides and get things moving along! I'm pretty much an eggs for breakfast girl. I sometimes will get up, make a smoothie, take a run then make my eggs!

I love green beans what can I say!?

This might not look so great, but it tasted amazing! If I'm not starving by the time I am making my breakfast I always make them with some onions! Here I just cracked my eggs on top of the onions in the pan... I was trying for something that looked a bit more, well... appetizing! Maybe next time!

I was SO EXCITED to get to try a new Superfood! Spirulina is a planted base powder that has protein in it... which is great for when I am not eating as much meat! It will go in my smoothies!

Here I packed a green smoothie to go with me to babysit...

Oh and look at that there, me drinking it!

Back on breakfast goodies! So you know now I love eggs for the morning meal, along with onions. Well I was craving a carrot one morning and I got so excited about this meal I was doing a little dance! Okay so I chopped up the onions and let them fry on the pan for 5 minutes, then added the already sliced carrots and let those sit on the pan for another 5 minutes... I pushed both aside to crack my eggs! Once ready I flipped them and let sit for another 30 seconds or so....

So here my eggs are laying on a bed of onion and carrots!

WAIT! It's not complete without the hot sauce!

Tuesday night we had our ladies bible study at the church. Every week now I've been bringing in some treats for the ladies and then talking about the benefits of the food I bring in. Berries were the topic this week and they were a hit! I love black berries! What a treat :)

This is one Kiwi, hand full of black berries, one apple and 1 1/2 Tablespoon the almond butter!!!

It's amazing to me how these foods fill me up so easy! I love eating natural foods, I will never go back to what I used to eat. Boxed, fast food, or frozen meals that lack in value and do damage to the body!

So I love posting on here the things I eat through out the week, to just give people ideas for maybe something they would like to try! I know sometimes I see some recipes on the blogs I follow and think "Wow I would have never thought to eat that, with that... but wow that looks good!" So that's why I am doing this.

I also thought I would take this time to post something that I don't eat. I wasn't sure what I would put this week until I watched an episode of Doc Oz the other day and I knew what I would write.

So this item I haven't ate in maybe an year now. And when I heard this reasoning of why people shouldn't eat it either I knew I had to post about it!

Any guesses??....

You guys know that guy, Mr. Potato head! Well I really hope you wouldn't eat him due to the fact he is made of plastic! What I was actually talking about was Potato the Vegetable!

You heard me, a Vegetable! You'd think I would never down on something that is seemly "Natural" right? Well here are some facts that I have read.

Yes Potato's are from the ground, and should be all natural but what they are doing to this Non-organic Potato is gross!

Pediatrician Alan Greene thinks that conventionally-grown potatoes are responsible for the loss of 16,000,000 IQ points in kids. Due to the pesticides!!!!!! Greene also said "That pesticides correlate with ADHD and developmental delays

They found that Non-Organic potatoes have 10 times the pesticides of an Organic Potato!

So buy Organic Potatoes, unless you want those Pesticides around!

I'd also like to say that Potato's need to be eaten in moderation! (Something you will hear me say a lot about keeping a healthy balance when eating foods, everything in moderation!)

You see Potatoes along with beets and carrots are grown underground which means that they are sugar-loaded carbohydrates! They hold on to those sugars when under ground and what I've learned this past year is that Carbs turn into sugar once they inter the blood stream!

Dr. Perlmutter the Author of "Grain Brain" explains that we have the power to prevent Alzheimer's diabetes, memory loss and dementia if we avoid ... Grains, Gluten and those Vegetables grown underground. Due to the carbs/sugar they hold.

I'm not great at explaining things so I would differently say read his book!

You will never hear me say I have a perfect diet, but I do try my best to be aware of the facts around me. If you hear something on tv, go look it up and learn about it. It might not be for you, but at least you are aware of what's going on around you and it could help change your life.

I know that I never stop learning and never plan too. I make the best choices I can make on a day to day basic. I make mistakes. But I also am doing my best so I won't get down on myself. The more I know the more I want to just continue to better myself.

Be aware. Be smart. Be Healthy

What motivates me

Since the snow is still on the roads and it's so very cold I haven't been able to take another walk outside since that one day a week ago where it was actually half way descent (It was like 39 degrees!) That leaves me running the treadmill, which can be a nightmare at times.

I love having the treadmill here at my house, just right outside my door but I long for the fresh air and hard ground. But I do love the feeling after a good run, so I run even on the treadmill. But to make sure I stick with it, every week for the past couple weeks I've been rewarding myself with something little for every mile more I run a week.

This week I am rewarding myself with this book!

I can't tell you how excited I am about it! I've heard great things about it from the blogs I follow.

Next week I'm upping my miles and going to rewarded myself with a new workout shirt that says something about being a future Mrs. Grogg or "Workin it for the dress" I'm not sure yet. But I have already decided seeing how it's Cain's Drill weekend I will also treat myself to some healthy cookie dough! Maybe I will post the recipe on here so you guys can kind of enjoy the treat with me ;) Because we all know us Military spouses needs some comfort foods once in awhile!

But what I'm REALLY looking forward too is in 2 weeks we are planning a trip to Indianapolis! Why am I so excited about going to Indy? Well first of all.... We will be going to Trader Joe's! Because we don't have one in Fort-Wayne it's a special trip to go. I love that all Trader Joe products are GMO free and most all organic. It's like a play ground of food for me!

But then... hehe, so excited... we are going back to the restaurant we went to the night we got engaged! It's called "So Bro Cafe" And it's AMAZING! There are ton of vegetarian, vegan and meat options that are healthy, whole foods. I will probably most likely get what I got last time, their Super food salad! It's heavily. Cain already knows it's the Bison burger again for him. This trip there though my parents are coming along so that they can get in on the wonderful food and my mom is also just as excited as I am for the Trader Joe's shopping day!

Sometime in the next month I will also like to get this book...

I've followed this girls blog for quite sometime now and when I saw she was writing a book I knew it was a must! I am actually planning on making a cheesecake out of the book for our wedding day! Something I can enjoy :)

Miles seem like nothing when I treat myself. I won't do this forever, because that would get to be a lot of gifts for myself. But this is until I can get my feet on real ground and not need the extra motivation. Hey believe me, it's not easy sometimes to be motivated to run... I am human and fail a lot of the time. But I NEVER will give up the healthy lifestyle I love so much. I don't run to lose weight like I once did, I run to be active, to keep my bones healthy, to get my heart pumping! Even just walking is a wonderful exercise we should all do daily for our health.

Be aware. Be smart. Be healthy!
